THE BAS-RELIEF OF PRESIDENT HO CHI MINH
Presented by the Resistance Administrative Committee of Thua Thien Province to the Youth National Salvation Association of Phu Phong Commune, Phu Vang District, in 1949.
In 1949, for their outstanding achievements in eliminating traitors, defeating enemies, and defending their village, the Resistance Administrative Committee of Thua Thien Province awarded the Youth National Salvation Association of Phu Phong Commune, Phu Vang District, a relief portrait of President Ho Chi Minh at the Provincial Youth Congress held in Khu Ba - Phu Loc.
Mr. Hoang Manh Luong (also known as La Manh Ha), who was the Secretary of the Phu Phong Youth Association at the time, accepted the precious award on behalf of the youth in the commune. The portrait was presented by Mr. Hoang Manh Hien, Secretary of the Thua Thien Youth Association. In 1950, due to intense enemy attacks, Mr. Hoang Manh Luong buried the relief in his garden to ensure the safety of this precious memento.
After the country was fully liberated, Hoang Manh Luong and his wife, Le Thi Hanh, recovered the relief portrait of President Ho Chi Minh and kept it as a sacred relic, symbolizing the image of Uncle Ho during the difficult days of the resistance.
On November 13, 1997, the couple donated the relief to the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue.
