PORTRAIT OF PRESIDENT HO CHI MINH
President Ho Chi Minh presented to Mr. Tran Van Sang in 1958
Mr. Tran Van Sang, a native of Thua Thien Hue, joined the revolutionary movement in 1945. In 1954, he regrouped to the North and became a soldier of Division 352 stationed in Quang Binh Province. He served in the military for many years until his retirement.
During his time stationed in Quang Binh, Mr. Tran Van Sang made significant contributions by eradicating illiteracy for 355 people. In recognition of his achievements, he was honored with a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, presented by the Ministry of Education in 1958.
This portrait was a precious gift from President Ho Chi Minh, who directed the Ministry of Education to present signed portraits inscribed with the words "For the soldier who eradicates illiteracy" to individuals and groups who excelled in the movement to eliminate illiteracy.
Cherishing this valuable memento, on July 3, 2001, Mr. Tran Van Sang donated it to the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue, where it is now preserved and displayed for future generations.
