HO CHI MINH BADGE
Presented by President Ho Chi Minh to Mr. Ho Trong Bay in 1968
Mr. Ho Trong Bay was a key leader in the resistance against the U.S. in the western region of Thua Thien Hue. He held important positions within the Party and the leadership of the West Thua Thien Delegation. He served as a Standing Committee member of the A Luoi District Party Committee for several terms.
In 1957, Mr. Ho Trong Bay joined the revolutionary forces in the heroic C12 unit of the local main force. During the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, with Hue being one of the two key battlefields (Saigon-Hue), he played a significant role in the revolutionary movement in the western region of Thua Thien. His outstanding contributions were well recognized.
In 1968, while serving as the Captain of Company 1, K12 Special Forces, Mr. Ho Trong Bay, along with Political Commissar Nguyen The Hung, was sent to the North to attend a Combat Achievement Report Conference. Afterward, they were invited to Hanoi to visit President Ho Chi Minh's residence and workplace. There, the group was warmly welcomed by President Ho Chi Minh and the Party and State leaders. They were praised for their achievements, and President Ho Chi Minh personally pinned the Ho Chi Minh badge on their chests.
For Mr. Ho Trong Bay and his comrades, this was a great honor and a sacred keepsake that inspired them to fight bravely and protect their villages.
In 1998, he decided to donate this precious memento to the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue.
