Memorial House of President Ho Chi Minh in Duong No Village, Phu Duong Commune, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province
The Memorial House of President Ho Chi Minh in Duong No Village is where Nguyen Sinh Cung (President Ho Chi Minh) lived with his father and older brother from 1898 to 1900. In 1898, after failing the provincial exam for the second time, Nguyen Sinh Sac (Ho Chi Minh's father) was invited by Mr. Nguyen Si Do to teach at his home in Duong No. His two sons, Khiem and Cung, followed him there, easing the family's financial burden on Madam Hoang Thi Loan. It also allowed Nguyen Sinh Sac to personally educate his sons, who were of schooling age.
At this place, Nguyen Sinh Sac was given a thatched house with three compartments and two wings by the Do family, which served as their living quarters and also as a classroom where he taught. It was here that Nguyen Sinh Cung and his older brother, Nguyen Sinh Khiem, received their initial lessons in Chinese characters from their father. They began with the characters "Nhan" (benevolence) and "Nghia" (righteousness), serving as moral teachings for life. During the two years he studied under his father, Nguyen Sinh Cung quickly became an exceptional student. The knowledge he gained during this time laid a solid foundation for his future intellectual development.
The Memorial House of President Ho Chi Minh in Duong No Village was recognized as a national cultural and historical site by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) according to Decision No. 296/VH-QĐ on March 27, 1990. It was later classified as a special national monument by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 2280/QĐ-TTg on December 31, 2020.
