Victory Celebration in Hue
On May 15, 1975, following a directive from the Party Central Committee, a nationwide victory celebration was held. In Hue, the event took place concurrently with other cities across Vietnam, including Hanoi, Saigon, Can Tho, Long Xuyen, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Kon Tum, and Rach Gia.
In Hue, the ceremony was conducted at Ngo Mon Square, near the iconic flagpole, drawing a crowd of around 50,000 people. Hue's Police Department worked closely with provincial security and military forces to ensure order and safety throughout the gathering, contributing to the success of this grand event.
In recognition of their remarkable accomplishments, the Party and Government sent a congratulatory telegram to the soldiers and citizens of Thua Thien Hue, stating: "The capture and full liberation of Thua Thien Hue is a politically strategic victory. This achievement has inspired our people across the nation, significantly weakening the enemy. You have contributed to the glorious and resilient tradition of our military and people."
