Tan Trao Communal House
On the morning of August 16, 1945, the National People’s Congress convened at Tan Trao Communal House in Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province. Over 60 representatives attended, including delegates from the three regions - North, Central, and South - alongside representatives from various social classes and political parties. A red flag was prominently displayed at the center of the communal house. President Ho Chi Minh presided over the Congress, where delegates discussed and decided on three major issues: endorsing a general uprising, establishing the National Liberation Committee with Ho Chi Minh as Chairman, and approving the Viet Minh's 10 major policies. The Congress also established the national symbols: the national flag - a red flag with a five-pointed yellow star in the center - and the national anthem, Tien Quan Ca ("The Marching Song").
On the morning of August 17, in front of Tan Trao Communal House, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the National Liberation Committee, took an oath during the inauguration ceremony.
