BAS-RELIEF OF PRESIDENT HO CHI MINH
A memorial of President Ho Chi Minh from Mr. Huynh Anh Thang
Mr. Huynh Anh Thang (alias Vo Ngoc Huong), born in 1958 in Thuy Van, Huong Thuy Town, Thua Thien Hue province, was born in Bac Giang after his parents relocated to the North.
When President Ho Chi Minh passed away, Huynh Anh Thang was a student and participated in the funeral and memorial services organized by his school. During this emotional event, as a distinguished class leader at Tran Phu School, he was honored to receive a precious gift - a bas-relief of President Ho Chi Minh carved from ivory, along with the Will of President Ho Chi Minh. His principal reminded him to “strive to study and follow the teachings of Uncle Ho.” The bas-relief, featuring a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, is carved from ivory and mounted on a piece of pine wood, which has darkened with time. However, the ivory portrait of the President remains pristine. Mr. Thang later added a small wooden base to the artwork.
In 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Anh Thang donated these precious mementos of President Ho Chi Minh to the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue.
